My mother has passed away. We're told it was in her sleep and painless. That's a lovely blessing.
We're still broken up about it, and the sad song of the family continues. My father is in the hospital as well, and not doing very well there. We thought he was on the mend when they admitted him to his own room, but he's since been brought back into the ICU, intubated, and medicated.
Frankly, it's terrifying that he's in such bad shape, especially after having just lost mom as well. Medical care costs and funeral expenses are no laughing matter, which is why we're still reaching out to our community to attempt to raise funds for these things.
I took a look for the first time since the GoFundMe was set up, and honestly I'm humbled at the amount of generosity we're seeing already. It will definitely make things easier to manage. Thank you to everyone in the community for helping- either via direct donations, or by sharing the link around so it can reach more people. It means the world to us to know we have such a wide ranging community behind us.
The link is still open, the fund raising is still ongoing, so please continue sharing it and our story.
We've decided to donate my mother's body to science. She was taken by a very aggressive cancer and we all felt that if they could study it then maybe it would do some good. May our loss create the opportunity for someone else's cancer to be cured and their family not feel the pain we're going through.
I'm including the link here again, just in case folks want to share this post and the link more.
Hug your loved ones. Talk to the ones far away. You never know when it's the last chance, the last day.
Musically grieving,
